This metal swing-arm light is ideal for architects, students, or anyone who needs strong lighting for detail-oriented tasks. The lamp uses a 100-watt A-19 incandescent bulb (not included) to provide powerful illumination, even when the arm is fully extended. It can also be used with an equivalent 23-watt compact fluorescent bulb.

I've owned this lamp for only six months and just tossed it out, unfortunately. When I received it, it was apparent that the manufacturing process was pretty low-cost - the edges weren't finished nicely and it didn't move as smoothly as more expensive lamps. Still, I realized that the price was much less than Luxo lamps and I was happy to have the savings. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for. For the last month, I have fought with the on/off switch, having to use pliers to turn it on and off as the switch got tighter and tighter. Finally, a few days ago, it started flickering when I would turn it on. Yesterday, it took its last flicker and went off completely.
Looking through both Amazon's site and the manufacturer's site, I could not find a way to contact anyone about the problem, so I'm taking my lumps and just threw the lamp away. The saddest thing is that I had previously had a Luxo architects's lamp that I'd bought in 1975 and it lasted until 2009. Don't waste your money on this cheap imitation!!
